Team

We are filmmakers from Finland. In our movie set is important to be dedicated to work, have fun and respect all other team members and actors. Everyone has to feel comfortable and be seen and feel useful in our set. We respect each other’s ideas and find similar thoughts, which help us through the writing and directing process. Often weagree on the same ideas about the film so actors won’t get misleading information. Sometimes, if one of us gets a good idea on set, we film it on the spot. You never know that might fit in the final version!

We are looking forward to bigger productions with funding and dedicated talented crew members. To us, it is important that the crew is on the same frequency as us – not forgetting that their ideas can make the movie better.

Our company

sasu

We owe our company to Sasu, our beloved late dog. Sasu San Productions is named after him. San, in the name, is Japanese meaning Mr. in this case. Sasu, a black Giant Schnauzer, was a genius. He understood several different languages. For us, he was a very important friend who always supported us at all times. His favourite movies were E.T., the 24 series, and especially the Dark Night Knight trilogy, which he used to listen to next to the subwoofer. Sasu is always with us and watching over us. He was reliable and dedicated – and those are the qualities we value in our company.

We think movies should support bright messages, hope for a better tomorrow, and lovefor one’s neighbour and humanity as a whole. We are keen to make drama films that stand out with our valuesof life. We like to do adventure and action movies but there always has to be a plot driven by characters, light and warmhearted stories. Environmental issues are alsoimportant for us in our productions and in personal life. In our productions, we aim atsustainability. Preferred equipments are, for example, Urth, Canon, Manfrotto,Sennheiser and Apple, that have committed to environmental friendliness and to reduce carbon footprint. We have bought Urth filters which support nature and every time you bought from them, they plant a tree. We are also committed to extend the lifespan of our equipments with careful maintenance and responsible use. When we no longer need an equipment piece, we pass it by to new users. We take care that any product that has come to its end of usage life in our handsis being disposed by environmental standards.

In the production, we try to use public transportation or carpool as much as possible. When it’s time for set design and costumes, we look through our own wardrobes, homes and second hand shops.

We are inspired by directors like Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan, Joe Wright. We are not trying to copy or imitate other filmmakers, but always try to look for fresh ideas. We don’t just do drama, we mix different genres together. We are looking forward to grow as a film production company and at the same time keep our eyes open for bigger productions.

The most important thing for us all is to create great movies.

Sasu San Productions strives to make quality films. Currently in production is a new feature film script of a short thriller and a short romantic comedy, but we always have the newest ideas at various stages of development.

YES, LIFE CAN BE WONDERFUL IF YOU’RE NOT AFRAID OF IT. ALL IT NEEDS IS COURAGE, IMAGINATION AND A LITTLE DOUGH.
– Charlie Chaplin

In many of the films now being made, there is very little cinema: they are mostly what I call ‘photographs of people talking.’ When we tell a story in cinema we should resort to dialogue only when it’s impossible to do otherwise. I always try to tell a story in the cinematic way, through a succession of shots and bits of film in between.
Alfred Hitchcock
